The Colour Wheel

Primary Colours

The three Primary colours are Red, Yellow and Blue. The make up every other colour under the rainbow.

The three Secondary colours are Orange, Green and Purple. These are the secondary colours because:

If you mix Red and Yellow you get Orange

If you mix Yellow and Blue you get Green

If you mix Blue and Red you get Purple

Therefore:

The Orange is placed between the Red and Yellow in the colour wheel

The Orange is placed between the Red and Yellow in the colour wheel

The Purple is placed between the Blue and Red

Complimentary Colours

Complimentary colours are the opposite colours in the colour wheel.

Red and Green are complimentary colours

Blue and Orange are complimentary colours

Yellow and Purple are complimentary colours
